When I need a shim for off-contact screen printing on my manual screen printing presses, I keep on hand the following items:
  1. Popsicle sticks
  2. Index cards
  3. Vertical blind slats
  4. A cut up old mousepad material
Each have their use for one type of print job or another.

Hope this tip can help you!

Depending on the thickness of the off contact that I need, I grab what I need to make the job easier.

I tape the shim to the bottom or the side of the screen depending on what works best.

The idea for me is to get through the job and get the shirts out the door.

Here's some photos...

Plastic blind slats
Popcycle sticks
Index cards
Mousepad material
