Motivating students and employees is one of the most important things that a teacher or employer can do. Awarding a certificate of achievement to those who have completed a course of study can be an effective way to motivate as most people are pleased when their achievements are noticed and recognized. For many who may not have accomplished or done anything positive in life before, receiving an achievement certificate can be a big accomplishment. Further, receiving a certificate from an independent third party gives added credibility to the award itself.

When the ASPA Certified Screen Printer (CSP) program was created, one of the goals we had in mind was to give recognition to screen printers who proved their competency in the basics of screen printing by awarding them the ASPA CSP Certificate of Achievement. We did not realize when we started the program, the large number of schools, print shops, and rehab/correctional facilities that would have an interest in our program. We have received feedback from several organizations that use our program praising its value and the “accomplishment” factor that our certification offers their students.

American Screen Printing Association's Certified Screen Printer (CSP) program has been in operation for over a decade. Career/Technical Education (CTE) schools, print shops, correctional institutions and individuals throughout the Unites States are using our program to certify their printers. As of this writing (April 2023), ASPA has certified well over one thousand screen printers and the number of participating organizations continues to grow.
