Stories about organizations that are using screen printing to improve the lives of people in their communities is one that American Screen Printing Association enjoys reporting. Providing useful 'real world' job skills that can instill pride and a sense of accomplishment to an individual and help them gain employment is a real struggle today. Moreover, developing a training program, obtaining funding and then getting it off the ground is by no means an easy task, but the organizations mentioned in this article have done just that and they are benefiting their communities and those that live there. American Screen Printing Association is pleased to report that 2019 was a record setting year for our screen printer certification and training programs. We had hundreds of new students participate this year including those from CTE high schools and vo-tech schools, youth rehabilitation facilities and adult correctional institutions. New students from throughout the United States are participating in our Diploma in Screen Printing training course and certification program. Teachers and instructors are using the ASPA Certified Screen Printer (CSP) exam to test their students for competency in the screen printing craft and to strengthen their job prospects when they graduate. American Screen Printing Association (ASPA) recently reached a milestone in its certification programs. As of August 2018, 1057 screen printers and graphic artists have become ASPA certified. The ASPA Certified Screen Printer (CSP) and ASPA Certified Graphic Artist-Screen Printing (CGA-SP) programs were started in 2012 to provide a standard of professional competence for screen printers and graphic artists working in the screen printing industry.
