American Screen Printing Association (ASPA) recently reached a milestone in its certification programs. As of August 2018, 1057 screen printers and graphic artists have become ASPA certified. The ASPA Certified Screen Printer (CSP) and ASPA Certified Graphic Artist-Screen Printing (CGA-SP) programs were started in 2012 to provide a standard of professional competence for screen printers and graphic artists working in the screen printing industry. ASPA certification covers basic screen printing practices and procedures that every screen printer should know. Passing the ASPA certification exam requires a thorough knowledge of screen printing techniques, procedures and the important aspects of the screen printing process. ASPA certification recognizes and raises the professional status of screen printers proving their knowledge and expertise of the screen printing craft. Being recognized as a professional in your occupation is a source of pride and personal accomplishment. Certification demonstrates expertise. Customers like to do business with people that they believe are competent and managers of screen printing companies would rather hire job applicants who are knowledgeable. Screen printers and print shops who have earned ASPA certification have proven that they are qualified. The ASPA certification program is used by employers for training employees, by schools in their screen printing and graphic arts programs and by correctional institutions for training and rehabilitation programs. ASPA is proud to report that we have certified screen printers in every state in the United States as well as in dozens of countries throughout the world.
